Welcome!

I’m Madeline R. Stenersen

I’m a licensed psychologist, researcher, evaluator, consultant, and current Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology at Saint Louis University. I completed my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Memphis and a T32 Postdoctoral Fellowship in Prevention and Community Research in the Department of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine. My work broadly focuses on using community-based participatory, and big data methods to address health disparities among marginalized communities and populations in the United States and abroad.

I have a particular interest and expertise in the intersection of individuals involved in the sex industry, LGBTQ+ communities, and the criminal legal system. Currently, my work involves long-term partnerships with organizations in the United States and abroad to understand disparities as well as develop, implement, and evaluate programs aimed at decreasing disparities, improving mental health, and preventing violence. As a result of my work, I have received multiple awards from the American Psychological Association including the Bridging the Gap Award for my work connecting research efforts to on-the-ground change and outcomes in local communities.

I currently serve as the principal investigator in the Community Health Equity and Engagement Research Lab (CHEER Lab) in the Psychology Department at Saint Louis University and am a member of the up! Collective. Working with students and community organizations is my favorite part of my job, so please peruse my website to learn more about my research, evaluation, and teaching and contact me to learn more!
